Foo Fighters debuted a song called “The Sky Is a Neighborhood” at the Fillmore in San Francisco last night. You can watch the video above.
The band performed the song at the Acoustic-4-A-Cure benefit show, with proceeds benefiting UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital.
Grohl said this was the world premiere of “The Sky Is a Neighborhood,” but it’s not the first taste of new music from the Foo Fighters that we’ve heard. In February, they played songs with tentative titles of “Keep Your Pretty Promise” and “Run With Me” at a surprise concert at a club in the U.K. when they announced that they would be headlining this year’s Glastonbury Festival.
Foo Fighters only have one U.S. concert this year, the BottleRock Festival in Napa, California, Memorial Day Weekend. However, they have European dates booked through September. The organizer of BottleRock has suggested that the reason for the lack of U.S. shows is because they plan to hole up in the studio all next year working on their next album.
Still, guitarist Chris Shiflett saidd that he wasn’t sure when they’re going to record. “I don’t know what our plans are, but we’ll make a new album when the time is right,” he said. “There will be a new Foo Fighters at some point.”
