As we’ve seen, Jared Leto is no stranger to really getting into his roles. This couldn’t be more true for his role in the upcoming Blade Runner 2049. Leto plays a blind android manufacturer named Niander Wallace who is kind of creepy. In order to prepare for the role, Leto blinded himself by using contact lenses which made his eyes look opaque and limited his visibility. (He had to have someone walk him around the set and backstage. *I’ll sign up for that job next time kthx*)
According to the film’s director Denis Villenueve, Jared Leto brought a sense of energy, tension and excitment to the set, and his approach was moving for most. Villenueve himself was moved to tears.
Blade Runner 2049 also stars Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford, Robin Wright, and Dave Bautista, and hits theaters on October 6th.
