I bet Alaska-born rock band Portugal. The Man never dreamed in a million years they’d be up for a Grammy…or maybe they did! Even so, the now Portland-based group has a lot to be happy about; a recent Grammy nomination for the break out hit “Feel It Still,” and breaking a record for most weeks at No.1 on the Alternative Charts.

In a recent interview with a hometown news station in Anchorage, Alaska, Portugal. The Man singer/guitarist John Gourley reminisced about his time in the woods with his family including this anecdote about “Feel It Still.”

“We lived out in Trapper Creek and I remember those two-hour drives to get groceries and we’d listen to Mister Postman on the radio, and that’s kind of what we were paying homage to when we wrote that song.

… Listening to 97.3, KOOL FM, driving into town.”

Currently here’s the chart breakdown:

As for their new single, “Live In The Moment”, that one’s climbing the charts in the top 30.
